Compare Credit Cards After the Holiday

Filed under: Compare Credit Cards, Credit Report — Free Credit Report Editor @ 10:38 pm

The holiday season brings out the best and sometimes the worst in us; especially when it comes to our finances. Faced with an endless list of presents to purchase and without the cash on hand to get it done, sometimes we are forced to turn to credit cards in our pursuit of getting the holidays behind us with as little financial ramifications as possible. This is not to say that we don’t enjoy ourselves; often the fun of giving gifts and the spirit of the season is what so greatly fuels our spiral into financial problems. But when the holidays are over, as they are now drawing to a close, we are faced with the reality of our situation and what we have to do in order to extricate ourselves with as little damage as we can.

Credit cards are never a good thing unless you pay them off on a monthly basis. When they are used as a substitute for cash, as they so often are, the possibility of financial disaster follows. Those who are looking to make headway on their credit card debt and repair their credit report need to start by making sure they are paying as little as possible on a monthly basis. To do this it is necessary to compare credit cards to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible in terms of finance charges, interest rate, and other fees. If, after you compare credit cards, you find a card that offers a much lower rate than you are currently paying then look to consolidate your current credit card debt onto this card so that you can save yourself money while paying aggressively down your debt.

Even better, when you compare credit cards, look for those cards that offer 0% interest on the first six months or year of service – an easy way to make some headway on paying down debt.
