Free Credit Reports Following Economic Struggle

Filed under: Free Credit Reports — Free Credit Report Editor @ 6:14 pm

We need only look around us on a daily basis to see the impact the economy is having on the lives of average households around the country. With gas prices increasing by the day – and the cost of living difficult to keep pace with, most of us have found ourselves in precarious financial positions and looking for ways to alleviate the pressure. Because of this struggle – and because even with two salaries many of us are finding it difficult to pay our monthly expenses – many of us have turned to credit to help ease our burden; either with the use of credit cards or the procurement of a one or several loans.

These quick fixes may seem like the way to go – and in the short term they may certainly ease the burden of a strangled cash flow – but in the long term such reliance on credit may have a negative impact on our credit report. By taking on additional debt we may find ourselves unable to keep pace with payments or increasing interest rates; the result may be credit damage that impacts our future financial health.

That is why it is so important that, following such a financial crisis, that we check in our credit report to ensure that all is as it should be in terms of information that is reflected there. Luckily we are able to do just that by ordering free credit reports on a periodic basis. Our credit report which is held and updated by three credit bureaus – is available to us as consumers. Through a central website – www.annualcreditreport.com – consumers are able to order their free credit report from any one or all of the credit bureaus. By taking the time to check their free credit report on a periodic basis, consumers can stay in control of their financial health and can have the opportunity to catch any inaccuracies right away.
